Ein Tischtennisball ist hohl, gleichmäßig rund, soll einen Durchmesser von 40 Millimeter haben und soll 2,7 Gramm wiegen. Wird er aus einer Höhe von 30,0 cm (Zentimeter) auf einen Standard-Spieltisch fallen gelassen, dann muss er eine Rückprallhöhe von 23 bis 26 Zentimeter erreichen, also mindestens etwa 77 und höchstens etwa 87 % der Anfangshöhe. [1] Der zulässige Bereich für die Stoßzahl "Both speed and spin of a ball are affected by the resilience of the playing surface and other properties that together define the bounce. This is measured by dropping an approved ball of average bounce on to the table; from a height of 300 mm, measured between the playing surface and the bottom of the ball, the ball must rebound to a height of 230-260 mm.
