• Der Assuan-Staudamm staut den Nil in Ägypten auf: die Kronenlänge beträgt etwa 3830 Meter und hat eine Höhe von gut 111 Metern. Sie staut den Nill auf und speichert bis zu 168 Kubikkilometer Wasser. Das Bauwerk dient vor allem der Versorgung Ägyptens mit Wasser für die Landwirtschaft. Daneben werden gut 2000 Megawatt elektrischer Leistung produziert.
