• Weniger Treibstoffverbrauch: von 1979 bis 1982 testete die NASA in den USA ein speziell für Versuche gebautes Schrägflügelflugzeug im niedrigen Unterschallbereich. Das Konzept hat sich aber anschließend nicht durchsetzen können.
