• Ein hoher Turm inmitten einer flachen Landschaft: dieser Turm ist eine gute Landmarke. Weiß man wo er steht, kann man daraus schließen, dass man selbst in seiner Nähe ist. Kann man noch die Himmelsrichtung zu ihm hin bestimmen, kann man sogar eine Halbergerade - eine sogenannte Standlinie - auf einer Karte zeichnen, auf der man stehen muss.
