- Angeblich lebte der Philosoph Diogenes öffentlich in einer Tonne und stellte auch sein gesamtes Privatleben öffentlich zur Schau. Bereits das Essen in der Öffentlichkeit galt im damaligen Griechenland als unsittlich. Diogenes' Verhalten war also eine offene Provokation.
